Historical Note: Unbeatable museum quality best describes our handcrafted Northrop YB-49A model airplane. After passing through the hands of master craftsmen, the parts are sanded and primed many times. Talented artists then paint on the intricate details with great accuracy. A final coat of clear lacquer protects the Northrop YB-49A model and gives it a glossy finish. The Northrop YB-49A model airplane comes with a handsome mahogany-based chrome pedestal, and to ensure that it is ready for delivery, it undergoes various stages of quality control before being placed in its box. The Northrop YB-49A model airplane is perfect as an addition to a growing collection or as an exquisite gift to a loved one.

Historical Note Cont'd: The Northrop YB-49 is a prototype jet-powered flying wing medium bomber aircraft of the United States Air Force shortly after World War II.
The YB-49's maiden flight was on October 21, 1947. Flight testing of the remaining YB-49 prototype ended on March 14, 1050. The program was cancelled completely. The prototype reconnaissance platform, the YRB-49A first flew on May 4, 1950 and the testing ended on April 26, 1951.
The YB-49 has a maximum speed of 495 mph, a combat range of 1,615 mi and a maximum range of 9,978 mi. It has an armament of 4 x .50 in machine guns and 32,000 lb bombs.
A crash of a YB-49 occurred on the morning of June 5, 1948,
at the north of Muroc Dry Lake. The co-pilot, Air Force Captain Glen
Edwards, and all four other members of the crew were killed. The cause of the
crash was not known, but it was suspected that the flight crew managed to
surpass the "red line" speed of the aircraft while descending from
40,000 ft, which caused the outer wing panels to be shed and the aircraft to
disintegrate in midair.
