F-15C EAGLE

Historical Note:          Uncompromisingly designed for the air superiority mission, the F-15 Eagle is America's front-line multi-role supersonic fighter. Single seat models have been operational since 1976; the two-seat Strike Eagles, since 1986.

The F-15C Eagle aircraft was the enhanced version of the F-15A fighter aircraft. Some of its upgraded features were its fuel capacity and a higher allowable takeoff weight. The difference between the F-15C and the F-15A aircraft is their aircraft serial numbers The F-15A aircrafts have tail numbers that begin with 73 to 77 while the F-15C aircrafts begin with 78 to 86.

The subsystems of the aircraft which are the radars, engine and secondary structures experienced decline reliability indicators. The three subsystems could be done for less than three billion US dollars.

On February 26, 1979, the first F-15C Eagle made its first flight. It was later used for trials with tangential carriage of bombs on the conformal tanks. In September 1979, the Kadena Air Base in Japan received the first F-15C Eagle.
