Historical Note: This scheme was trailed briefly by the 917th TFW during late 1990 as part of a USAF experiment aimed at making the A-10s camouflage scheme better suited to desert warfare. Dubbed the "Peanut" scheme, it was not adopted. After many years of service with the 47th FS, this aircraft was recently transferred to the 706th FS/926th FW, AFRS, which was based at NAS New Orleans until the air station was wrecked by Hurricane Katrina in September 2005. The unit is presently operating on a temporary basis from Mountain Home AFB, Montana, and Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, until its facility has been repaired.
