STANDARD OIL STINSON DETROITER
Another fine quality Gearbox Collectible has just been issued. Fourth in a series, this Amoco licensed product is one of only five thousand ever to be produced. Great colors and logos (the round "Standard Oil Company" logo is also on the upper and lower side of the wing as well as the aircraft number "NC1453") make this an attractive display piece. Features include limited edition production, attached key, hidden coin bank, working propeller, quality tampo graphics, heavy die-cast metal and rotating rubber wheels. Measures 12 inches in wing span by 8 1/2 inches in length.
Historical Note: The Stinson Detroiter is well known as the first American aircraft with a completely enclosed, sound-proof and heated cabin. It was also the first to incorporate brakes onto its landing gear. The Detroiter was an excellent vehicle for winter flying, eventually winning awards for its reliability and endurance.
