Erwin Rommel was born in Württemberg, Germany, in 1891. He joined the German army in 1910 as an infantry officer and served with distinction in World War I. He fought primarily on the western front, mostly in France and Italy. After striking successes at the battles of Battle of Caporetto and in the capture of Longorone in Italy, Rommel was promoted to the rank of captain in January 1918. In 1919, Rommel participated in the suppression of uprisings by revolutionary communists in the German cities of Lindau and Schwäbisch-Gmünd. In doing so, Rommel became renowned for avoiding bloodshed and for relying on negotiation to resolve conflict. From 1929 through 1933, Rommel served as an instructor at the Dresden Infantry School and from 1935 at the German War Academy at Potsdam. Impressed with Rommel’s excellent reputation as an instructor, Adolf Hitler assigned him in 1937 as the War Ministry liaison officer to the Hitler Youth, tasked with their military training. But Rommel clashed with Hitler Youth leader Baldur von Schirach on many issues and was removed the following year. In October 1938, Hitler requested that Rommel command Hitler’s personal escort battalion, which accompanied the Führer whenever he traveled outside of Germany.
The Collectors Showcase strives to become your source for military miniatures. Whether you are a military history buff or just enjoy fine scale models, The Collectors Showcase has what you need. Known for our action and highly detailed models, The Collectors Showcase has become an international source for fully painted miniature products. Started in 2004 our company has grown from offering 1/6th scale full figures to 60mm and 54mm all metal figures. In addition, we recently began delving into 28mm war-gaming figures. Our figure sets span genres such as Agincourt all the way to WWII. We especially enjoy creating colorful pieces derived from the Napoleonic and Civil War era. We emphasize unique aspects in our tank models as well. They incorporate both open turrets and thrown track options. Collectors are delighted to have pieces that lend themselves to a variety of different diorama set-ups. All of their prototyping ( sculpting ) is done in Austin Texas. They then ship off the pieces to their factory in China for manufacturing. The company has been in existence since 2004. They design everything using CAD or 3D technology that’s what allows for all of the great action and highly detailed models.
Composition facts: The 60mm (1:30 scale) soldiers are all metal. The larger types such as 120mm or 1/6th scale are made of polyresin ( a marbleized resin known for its detail and durability) with metal guns and helmets. The armor is all made of polyresin with metal guns/machine guns and figures.
