After 1922, Mikasa was decommissioned in accordance with the Washington Naval Treaty and preserved as a museum ship at Yokosuka. She was badly neglected during the post. World War II Occupation of Japan and required extensive refurbishing in the late 1950s. She is now fully restored as a museum ship and can be visited at Mikasa Park in Yokosuka. Mikasa is the last remaining example of a pre dreadnought battleship anywhere in the world.
IJN Mikasa is the last existing example of pre-dreadnought battleship in the World. She now rest peacefully as a museum inYokosuka, Japan. Mikasa was built in England in late 1890’s with the “indemnity” money received from then, China Government. She saw action during Russo-Japanese War which interestingly took part in Chin. Mikasa was the flag ship of the fleet and had much success against the Russian but was sunk from an accidental discharge of munitions storage on board. She was salvaged and repaired to see active service as a Japan coastal defense war ship.
