The 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron operations officer Major Arnold "Moon" Mullins took over as commander of the "Fighting Cocks" following the death of Congressional Medal of Honor winner Major Louis J. Sebille. Mullins was originally credited with four kills in F-51s, but these credits were pared down to one kill after the war. The 67th FBS was part of the 18th FBW throughout the Korean War; like the rest of the wing, it converted from F-80s to Mustangs in August 1950 and flew them until early 1953, when the unit transitioned to F-86 Sabre Jets. The 67th was tasked for ground support missions throughout the war, but managed to find air-to-air combat during many sorties, one of them resulting to Mullins' victory over a North Korean Yak.
