Maj Edward F Rector, CO of the 76th FS/23rd FG, Kweilin, China, December 1942 Rector scored a kill in the American Volunteer GroupÌ´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´ås first combat on 20 December 1941 over Kunming, China. Accepting a USAAF commission to command the 76th FS of the newly-formed 23rd FG following the AVGÌ´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´ås disbandment, he scored a confirmed kill and a probable in Ì´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´ÌÛWhite 104Ì´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´å on 4 July 1942 over Hengyang, China. This aircraft was one of the first P-40Es delivered to the AVG, and it carried a Disney-designed flying tiger decal on its fuselage. Fellow AVG aces Bruce Holloway, Ì´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´ÌÛAjaxÌ´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´å Baumler and John Alison also flew Ì´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´ÌÛWhite 104Ì´Ì_ÌÎÌàÌÎ_Ì´å at various times, and it is seen here as it appeared in December 1942 after Holloway had claimed his fifth kill in it.
